Two state highways shape how you get around. M-53, the Van Dyke Freeway, runs north through the township on the east side of Utica, about a mile east of the old Van Dyke Avenue. M-59 crosses in from Sterling Heights and ends as a freeway at Van Dyke Avenue in Utica, where it carries on east as Hall Road.
